Holidays on the Road
December 21, 2012
Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve! These are serious holidays, and they all occur within a few minutes of each other. Singing, spinning,, jumping, drinking... and I believe the winter solstice is traditionally celebrated sitting in an airport waiting for a connecting flight. This year I’ll be enjoying the Solstice Festivities at Phoenix Airport during a 2.5 hour lay-over.
(Cue up, Andy Williams singing It’s Most Wonderful Time of the Year on the terminal sound system in one long, every-repeating, continuous loop.)
I am heading East. Family and friends await. I raise my Dunkin’ Donut (a white frosted number with red and green sprinkles) in a surreptitious little toast to all the wonderfulness that lies ahead back home. I am of good cheer.
